Focusing on Significant Mental Health Services via Direct School-Based Interventions

Individual and Family Counseling is the heart of our therapeutic services. Students receive direct interventions and engage in a course of treatment aimed to provide strategies and pathways to academic success. Students and their families receive support from our clinicians. Our clinicians utilize multimodal and evidence-based strategies in sessions while students maintain academic responsibilities.

School Clearances

School Clearances are conducted upon the request of our schools when concerns of harm to self or others arises. The school clearance process occurs on premises to allow efficient intervention and minimize duration and distance for families of the student which can often prolong the process. School clearances provide immediate assessment of a student’s ability to remain engaged in the school community. Moreover, clinical recommendations and collaboration with the schools are made to allow ongoing support when needed.

Child Study Team (CST) Collaboration for Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

CST collaboration for IEP driven services are available. Clinical needs are assessed and students with increased needs for clinical support can be referred to our caseload. Counseling goals can be modified to have our team members provide both individual and group support. Child study teams also receive collaborative consultation from our team regarding clinical goals.

School Avoidance Programming (SAP)

Therapeutic classrooms, including School Avoidance Programming (SAP) aims at addressing attendance and engagement challenges many districts. Students who experience anxiety, social factors, and external challenges may find difficulty in engaging the school day through a traditional lens. School avoidance programming assesses for the best plan to assist the student, family and school to develop the most empowering transition to school engagement. We also have districts with whom we collaborated with to design and build therapeutic classrooms to address such engagement and attendance challenges beyond an individual student scale.

Referrals can be provided by our team when students may benefit from community-based support. School based interventions address appropriate clinical goals that at are ultimately connected to academic success. When extraneous goals or needs are identified, the team offers linkage for students and families. Navigating the Children’s System of Care and accessing resources for referrals is a skill that can be promoted and assisted upon with both school and family. Some service providers that students may be provided linkage for are PerformCare, Intensive Outpatient programs, Children’s Mobile Response, Outpatient counseling, etc.
